A spotlight on food chain workers: ETUI HesaMag#23 out today

Today the European Trade Union Institute ( ETUI) , in collaboration with EFFAT, has released the latest HesaMag #23, the ETUI publication about health and safety at work, released twice a year, in English and French.

This edition offers an insight into the daily lives of  workers in the food supply chain, who, as we all know well, are often forced to take disproportionate risks to meet our needs for food.

EFFAT largely contributed to this edition’s content which features:

  • Our Kristjan Bragason’ s interview on future of the European agricultural model
  • Our Dept General Secretary Enrico Somaglia, and our Food & Drink Political Secretary Wiebke Warneck’s take on the situation of the European meat industry and the catastrophic impact of Covid-19 on workers, which prompted Germany’s legislature to introduce a ban on subcontracting.

More contributions on:

  • Working conditions of seasonal migrant labourers working for agri-food producers in Spain,
  • The daily lives of food riders, lately confronted with daily choice during the pandemic: penury or Covid-19 infection.
