EFFAT together with its sister Federations EFBWW and ETF is taking action against labour crime and exploitation. The three federations are putting the topic of subcontracting chains and labour intermediaries forward in a joint demonstration and hearing at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, on Tuesday, 17 September 2024.
The demand for an EU-binding initiative on labour intermediaries and fair working conditions across subcontracting chains is at the top of EFFAT’s political agenda since 2020. On this important subject, EFFAT has strengthened synergies with EFBWW and the ETF. This demo will be an important moment to promote common demands for equal treatment across subcontracting chains, regulated labour intermediation (including a ban of intermediaries in posting), and more and better inspections. The demonstration will take place in occasion of the second official plenary meeting of the newly elected European Parliament with the aim of placing our demand very high on the EU Institution’s political agenda.
The rally will run from 14h to 16h in front of the European Parliament. Speakers from the three Federations will intervene together with several MEPs who are expected to join the action. The demonstration will be followed by a hearing at the European Parliament from 17h to 18h45. The hearing will feature testimonies from workers exposed to exploitative subcontracting practices and unscrupulous and fraudulent intermediaries with 150 Union members in the plenary to be part.
