Eurovision takes place from 9 to 13 May 2023 in Liverpool, UK. It’ll be watched by almost 9 million people.
But let’s face it: Without hospitality workers, international events like the Eurovision would never happen.
As the backbone of such events, hospitality workers deserve international support from Trade Unions, both locally and internationally.
Unite the Union, EFFAT’s UK affiliates, have planned a series of initiatives around the event to celebrate and thank workers while ensuring that they enjoy improved working conditions. Unite in Liverpool is running workshops for hospitality workers on how to organise at work, how to tackle harassment, while creating a legacy for the next Eurovision hosting country in 2024.
EFFAT, representing all hospitality workers will join in ready to play its part.
We’re encouraging all affiliates across Europe in the Tourism Sector to share Solidarity to their fellow hospitality workers in the UK and share messages on social media starting today until 13 May.
Some suggestions on how to do so:
1. Print the #UnionVision visual(s) attached and take a picture holding it.
2. Share on Social media any solidarity messages around the event or Unite initiatives using #UnionVision.
3. Tag @unitetheunion all the way through Social Media.
4. Amplify/retweet Unite social media messages throughout the week.
Eurovision is an event about love, music, and fun!
With your help we can make it a #UnionVision, about workers’ rights and fairer working conditions.
