Today, more than 200 dairy workers at FrieslandCampina Leeuwarden will strike, continuing a wave of labour actions across the Dutch dairy sector.
The issue
While FrieslandCampina reports record profits, workers are seeing their purchasing power being eroded. EFFAT’s Dutch affiliate FNV Vakbond is demanding a 4% wage increase, inflation adjustments, and full travel reimbursement: demands that are met with employer inflexibility and a “final offer” that leaves workers behind.
FNV’s demands for all workers
- Minimum 4% wage increase

- Full travel reimbursement based on government fiscal limits
- Union access to workplace and canteens
- Structural work-life balance improvements (4-day work week discussions)
- Higher allowances for shift work
