On 12 August we celebrate the International Youth Day which addresses each year a specific theme to young people, highlighting the challenges they face in the current context. This year’s theme is entitled “Youth engagement for global action” and promotes youth engagement at local, national, and global levels especially in these times of crisis in which the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was devastating for all our sectors.

On this special occasion, the EFFAT Youth Bureau wrote a statement highlighting the importance this platform has to make the voice of young people heard at the global level and how essential it is for EFFAT affiliates to include youth in trade union activities at all levels. The statement also points out how a vital resource trade unions have been and still are during the pandemic to protect workers’ rights.

The statement is available in 9 languages: English, German, Croatian, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Italian, Finnish and Dutch
