Together with CEFS, EFFAT is proud to launch the 18th joint CSR report, this year focused on a topic reshaping our industry: the integration of Artificial Intelligence.
The EU beet sugar sector isn’t just an economic pillar – producing – 50% of global beet sugar – it’s a social one, sustaining 25,000 direct jobs and nearly 274,000 across the wider supply chain, many in rural communities where alternatives are scarce.
As AI and digital tools reshape production, EFFAT’s priority remains clear: innovation must work for workers, not around them. That means:
✅ Anticipating skills needs and investing in training
✅ Ensuring transparency and worker voice in how new technologies are introduced
✅ Protecting job quality and rural livelihoods through the transition
Long-standing social dialogue between employers and trade unions can turn digital disruption into shared opportunity: keeping people at the heart of a modernising industry.
