September 17

09:00 am - 05:00 pm

Further to earlier announcements, please find below some information concerning our upcoming joint EFFAT/EFBWW/ETF demonstration.

The demonstration will take place on Tuesday 17 September, 2-5 PM in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg (France). The demonstration takes place in the framework of EFFAT mobilization and demand for an EU Directive on labor intermediaries and fair working conditions across subcontracting chains. This demand is also fully shared and supported by EFBWW and ETF. We have strengthen synergies with these two sister federations and we have recently adopted a joint paper that covers our common priorities (see here also a joint Op-Ed we wrote on the topic).

This timing of the demo has been chosen to allow a maximum participation from the affiliates. We hope to receive important delegations from all parts of Europe, in particular we count on the support of affiliates in the neighboring countries.

We are currently also looking into the possibility of organising a hearing inside the European Parliament, together with MEPs of different political groups (from 5:30 to 7 pm).

This will be an important moment to promote our demands for equal treatment across subcontracting chains, regulated labour intermediation and more and better inspections.  The demo will take place in occasion of the second official plenary meeting of the newly elected European Parliament with the aim of placing our demands very high in the political agenda of the EU Institutions.

For logistical and practical reasons, we kindly request affiliates to fill in the digital form indicating the preliminary size of delegations + mode of transport. Each delegation should arrange autonomously its travel and accommodation.

A leaflet announcing the demonstration can be found here: 12 | 3
Additional logistic and practical information will be shared at a later stage with registered participants.
