We are pleased to inform you that the report on our recent joint project, “Social Dialogue and the Sustainable Post-COVID-19 Recovery Strategy in the Food and Drink Industry,” is now available here.
The report provides in-depth analysis of the challenges faced by the EU food and drink sector since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, examining the impact on various subsectors, supply chain disruptions, social consequences and the role of social dialogue.
It comes to the conclusion, that the pandemic highlighted both strengths and gaps in social dialogue across Europe. In sectors where social dialogue structures were already well established, responses to the crisis were faster and more effective. In many cases, however, the lack of sectoral social dialogue mechanisms led to missed opportunities. Despite the challenges, European sectoral social dialogue provided useful guidance that was referred to in several countries and had a significant impact.
However, the report found little evidence that social dialogue during the pandemic led to lasting changes in processes or learning for the future. The study suggests that social partners need to be better prepared for future pandemics and other crises and focus on cooperation across the sector to improve resilience. It also highlights the importance of aligning social dialogue with ongoing digitalisation and sustainability initiatives across the EU.
We invite you to read the report to discover the key findings and recommendations for a sustainable recovery in our sector.
