EFFAT fully supports the joint ETUC’s stance opposing efforts to deregulate essential EU laws like the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
The CS3D establishes clear, democratically agreed-upon obligations for companies to uphold human rights and environmental standards across their operations and supply and subcontracting chains, as well as franchise systems. Recently, some European employers Federations have attempted to jeopardise these directives obligations for the sake of “competitiveness”, reducing reporting obligations and creating a legal vacuum that threatens threatening workers rights.
EFFAT firmly opposes the idea that competitiveness should rely on eroding workers’ rights or compromising environmental standards. Instead, Europe must take the high road by prioritizing investments in quality jobs, robust collective bargaining rights, and equal treatment in the workplace.
