Following fifteen days of determined strike action, workers at JDE Peet’s Andrézieux have achieved a successful outcome with an agreement reached by their union representatives from our affiliates CFDT Agri-Agro and FNAF-CGT on 8 October 2025.
The agreement provides for:
- An exceptional wage increase in addition to the one negotiated during annual wage negotiations at the site; and
- A sizable bonus that temporary workers will also receive.
Workers’ demands for an exceptional wage increase came in response to the company’s high levels of reported profits, and money to be paid out to JDE Peet’s shareholders following the announcement of Keurig Dr. Pepper’s agreement to acquire the company. Once acquired, the combined company will then split into a “Global Coffee” company and a “Beverage” company by the end of 2026.
“Management initially said that it could not raise wages outside the annual negotiations and only offered a bonus. It was in this context that, on September 23, workers at JDE Peet’s Andrézieux collectively decided to go on strike — strongly supported, with 90% of production and maintenance workers participating,” said Jérôme Stravianos, General Secretary of CFDT Agri-Agro’s local branch at JDE Peet’s Andrézieux site.
He added that, “During the strike, the factory was barely operating, and management, instead of calming the situation, chose confrontation, even going so far as to take legal action to end the blockade of trucks. The judge, however, refused to give in to pressure from the company and instead upheld CFDT’s request for mediation.” It was in this mediation that an agreement was reached.
During the strike, solidarity poured in from workers and their unions across Europe with EFFAT IUF-Europe and IUF affiliates sending a strong message of solidarity from EFFAT’s annual meeting of its Transnational Companies Committee in October 2025.
